Gary Clapper

Warnerville- Gary Steven Clapper, 61, of Worms Way, died Saturday, November 26, 2016 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.

Born August 15, 1955 in Cooperstown, he was the son of late Roy and Florence (Powell) Clapper.

Gary graduated from the former Cobleskill Central School and worked at Coleco Industries in Amsterdam and then National Stove Works in Howes Cave. He was a laborer at several local farms, but enjoyed mowing lawns the most. Gary retired from the Village of Sharon Springs Water Department.

In his early years, Gary was a volunteer for the Carlisle Fire Department.

He was predeceased by his wife, Grace (Wayman) Clapper in 2014; a brother, Brian, who died in 1968; his mother, Florence, in 1986 and his father, Roy, in 2006.

Survivors include his four siblings: Betty (Bobby) Fisher of Vero Beach, FL, Larry (Diane) Clapper of Worcester, Debra (Jerry) Weis of Cobleskill and Bruce (Anne) Clapper of Cobleskill; several nieces and nephews; and his fiancee, Teresa Hopkins of Cobleskill.

Family and friends are invited to a funeral service to be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Bert Mayne of the Carlisle Presbyterian Church officiating. A period of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, prior to the service from 10- 11 AM. Burial will follow in Zion Rural Cemetery, Seward, NY.
