Gary Boynton

Cobleskill-Gary Wade Boynton, 56, of Elm Street, died Sunday, October 18, 2009 following a long illness at his residence with his family at his side.

Born November 17, 1952 in Cobleskill, he was the son of the late D. Wade Boynton, and Alice (Sperbeck) Boynton, who survives him.

Gary was a graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School and attended SUNY Cobleskill for one year and then the former Victoria College in Victoria, TX. He and his wife moved from Texas to the Northeast in 1989.

Gary was a self employed carpenter, licensed realtor, and music producer for Coby Rock. He was a member of the Village of Cobleskill Zoning Board of Appeals, Amnesty International, Greenpeace and ACLU. Gary was a political and social activist.

Survivors include his wife, Candace Boynton, whom he married Oct. 17, 1982; his son, Gregory (Janell) Wade Boynton of Waco, TX; his mother, Alice Boynton of Cobleskill; two sisters: Patricia (Glen) Moyster of Cobleskill, and Bonnie (Raymond) Borthwick of Rochester, MA; a granddaughter, Alyvia Grace Boynton of Waco, TX; and five nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill. Officitaing will be Rev. Steffen Zehrfuhs of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Central Bridge. Burial will follow in Richmondville Rural Cemetery. Friends are also invited to a period of visitation from 6 to 8 PM on Wed., October 21, at St. Vincent de Paul Church.
