Frieda Thorington

Cobleskill- Frieda O. Thorington, 77, of Mineral Springs Road, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at her residence following a brave battle against cancer.

Born December 11, 1939 in Cobleskill, she was the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Wilson)
Frieda was a lifelong area resident of Cobleskill and was a graduate of Cobleskill Central School. Frieda retired as a service assistant from AT&T in Colonie, originally beginning her career of thirty-six years with Ma Bell.

Frieda was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Red Hat Society.
She was the most loving person. She enjoyed gardening and traveling.

Her husband, Donald O. Thorington, predeceased her on December 28, 1988.

Survivors include her three children: Susan Thorington of Richmondville, Richard G. Thorington of Goose Creek, SC, and Kurt Thorington of Cobleskill; seven grandchildren: Courtney L. Galligan, Emily C. Thorington, Adam W. Thorington, Gabriel J. Collins, Donald A. Thorington, Emmett Bumpis, and Richard G. Thorington II; and her four siblings: Joyce Robinson of Manlius, NY, Sandra Thorington of Cobleskill, Henry Wissenbach of Clifton Park, and Louis Wissenbach of Florida.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 615 Main St., Cobleskill with Rev. Sara Litzner officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held from 3 to 5PM on Sunday at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Inurnment will follow the service in Bramanville-Prospect Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church in Frieda's memory.
