Frederick Dyer

On May 17, 2020 Frederick J. Dyer fought his last battle.  He was a father of four, a husband, son, brother, friend and soldier.  A proud member of the United States Marine Corps, Fred served his country in Vietnam from 1967- 1971.  He was awarded eight medals in recognition of his dedication, achievements and service.

Rick loved his children, family and friends.  He enjoyed hunting, camping, cooking, gardening, motorcycles and in his younger days, fast cars. The Softball League was a part of his life for several years and lots of good times were had with his Wolf's Den Softball family.  If you knew Rick, you knew he had a major love of animals and some very special four-legged friends during his lifetime.

Many roads were traveled throughout his life, some troubled, while others full of life and lots of laughs.  Whether your journey with him was as family or friend, I hope you will remember the good times with understanding of the troubled.

With love we say "see you later" to a man with many names....Dad, Pop, Brother, Fred, Rick, Pedro, Chico, Fredo and Mex.   Rest in Peace and trouble no more.  We Love You.

To honor Rick's life, service and love of animals, we have chosen a program, Operation at Ease, for contributions. This program rescues dogs and pairs them with deserving veterans suffering with PTSD.  Information can be found at www.Operation at Ease. Contributions in Rick's name can be sent to Operation at Ease, PO Box 9156, Niskayuna, N.Y. 12309.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY  12043.
