Warnerville- Freda E. daCosta, 87, of Dodge Lodge Road, died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at her residence with her loving family at her side.
Born August 31, 1924 in Montreal, Canada, she was a daughter of Arthur and Lucy (Dix) Seaban.
Freda retired as office manager for Empire Art Products of Queens, NY. She and her husband lived in New York City since 1961 and moved to Warnerville in 1988. While living in NY City, she was a member of the Canadian Women's Club of NY CIty.
Freda enjoyed knitting and volunteered her homemade products to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown to assist in their continual fundraising.
She is survived by her husband, Lionel daCosta, whom she married July 14, 1948; her two children: Linda (Mike) Brooks of Port Jervis, NY and Brian (Lucille) daCosta of Aberdeen, NJ; four grandchildren: Daniel daCosta, Steven daCosta, Noelle Brooks, and Peter (Ella) Brooks; and two great-grandchildren: Justin and Benjamin Brooks.
Visitation was private. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 795 E. Main St., Suite 11, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh.
