Cobleskill- Fred, "Sonny" DeSena, 82, formerly of Brooklyn, died Monday, December 8, 2008 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown following a brief illness.
Sonny was born March 12, 1926 in Brooklyn, a son of Ferdinand and Concetta (Ciglia) DeSena.
He resided in Brooklyn most of his life, moving to Cobleskill just three months ago.
He retired from Peerless Trucking Company of Brooklyn. Sonny took special care of his relatives and enjoyed spending time together with family.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Rose DeSena of Cobleskill; 2 nieces: Lois (Ralph) Maiello of Brooklyn and their children, Louis and Dakota Maiello, Cathy Jean DeSena of Cobleskill; and his nephew, Frank DeSena of Cobleskill.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) on Friday, February 20, 2009 at St. Vincent de Paul Church 138 Washington Ave. Cobleskill, NY, with Father Thomas F. Holmes as celebrant. There will be no calling hours.
