Sloansville- Franklin K. Merwin, 70, of Highway Route 20, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Born October 31, 1945 in Harpersfield, he was the son of Elmer and Blanche (Rivenburgh) Merwin.
Franklin was a self-employed carpenter and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and demolition derbies.
He married Jane Dufresne October 29, 1966, and she predeceased him on January 28, 2013.
Survivors include his four children: Maria Roe (William Smith) of Central Bridge, Lisa (Raymond) Compton of Canajoharie, Katrina (Christopher) Padgett of Sharon Springs, and Edward Merwin (Sanya Travell) of Cobleskill; three sisters: Emma Rood of Canajoharie, Mildred McCarty and Dorothy Oliver both of Cherry Valley; three brothers: Richard Merwin of South Carolina, Charles Merwin of Richmondville and Russell Merwin of Tennessee; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Pamela Mikel Hayes of the Cobleskill United Methodist Church officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation that will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 AM. Inurnment will be private in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
