Florence Hurley, 91, formerly of Summit, NY died Monday, February 2, 2009 at the Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford, NY where she had resided since 2006.
Mrs. Hurley was born on February 13, 1917 in Manhattan, NY a daughter of the late Josephine (Shine) and John Steele. She was a homemaker before working as a secretary at the Bulova Watch Co. in Valley Stream, NY. She was a longtime resident of Valley Stream, NY and also lived in Brentwood, NY before moving to Summit, NY in 1998. Mrs. Hurley was predeceased by her husband, Philip John Hurley in 1984, her daughter, Marylu Cook in 1996 and her granddaughter, Deborah Cook.
She is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Hurley of Summit, NY, son Dennis Hurley of Brentwood, NY, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be private. Cremation took place at the Vale Crematory in Schenectady, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, Middleburgh, NY and the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, Cobleskill, NY. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Inc. PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092.
