RICHMONDVILLE- Fletcher "The Magic Man" Suchocki, 60, of Trout Haven Rd., died at his residence surrounded by family and loved ones, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Mr. Suchocki was born January 1, 1948, in Newark, NJ, and was the son of Victor and Geraldine (Hopkins) Suchocki.
He was a graduate of the former Richmondville Central School and was employed at General Electric in Schenectady as a Machine Operator up until his retirement. He was a United States Air Force and Army Reserve Veteran serving in the Vietnam War from July of 1967 until October of 1970 and is a Lifetime Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club, USA.
His memberships were numerous including, Fraternal Organization of Eagles Aeries # 2695 of Cobleskill, a Lifetime Member of the American Hunting Club, New York State Muzzleloaders Club, North /South Skirmish Association (Black Powder Competition), American Artillery Association, Big Brothers of America, Past Member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and Escape Artists and was known throughout the region for doing shows at Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Assisted Living Facilities as well as entertaining family and friends at various gatherings. He was associated with Empire State Fireworks doing professional fireworks displays at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds and Perillo's in Duanesburg.
Mr. Suchocki was predeceased by a brother, Victor, who died in 1976 and his Dad, Victor.
He is survived by a daughter, Crystal Suchocki of Pineville, LA, a son, John Suchocki, of San Diego, CA, his mother, Geraldine Suchocki of Middleburgh, NY, 4 sisters, Anita Stearns of Anchorage, AK, Geraldine Griesel of Loveland, CO, Debra Scheer of Carmichael, CA, Karen Maloney of Sweetwater, TN, 4 brothers, Kenneth Suchocki of Tacoma, WA, Ray Suchocki of Duanesburg, NY, Michael Suchocki of Summit, NY, Kurt Suchocki of Schenectady, NY, his close companion, Barbara Tisdall, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY with Rev. Gary Edmister of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Richmondville officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 PM on Friday. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Summit Cemetery in Summit, NY.
