Cobleskill - Evelyn L. Wilcox, 85, of Cobleskill, passed away November 26, 2013 at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida after a short illness at her winter residence in Brooksville Wesleyan Village, Brooksville, Florida.

Mrs. Wilcox was born January 19, 1928 in Roseboom, a daughter of James and Elsie (Burger) Willoughby.

She graduated from Sharon Springs Central School, and Allentown Bible College, where she received a BA in Theology. After graduating she pastored at the Cherry Valley Pilgrim Holiness Church.

She was married to Donald E. Wilcox on April 24, 1954 until his death on January 25, 1983. After her marriage she worked on the family farm, was a foster parent and did postal delivery. She was a long time member of the Cobleskill Wesleyan Church holding several positions of leadership in the church. While in Florida one of her greatest joys was to teach Kids Club at the Brooksville Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include her sons Calvin (Rebecca) Wilcox and Dale (Dottie) Wilcox both of Cobleskill; her daughter Kathleen (Craig) Patterson of Sunbury, PA; nine grandchildren Melinda (Tim) Kong, Andrea Wilcox, Teddi Wilcox, Danielle Wilcox, Kiel Wilcox and Abbey Wilcox, Holly, Josh and Samuel Patterson; four great-grandchildren Elianah and Elisabeth Kong, Daniel Bradt and Jorja Lawton.

She is also survived by her sister Betty Jane Mead of Chestertown. She was predeceased by her siblings, DeForest, Floyd, Gladys, Kenneth, Carl, Phillip, Herbert, Charles Willoughby, and Ethel Hummel.

The family will host a Celebration of Life for relatives and friends on Saturday, December 14th at 3 pm at the former Wesleyan Church on 36 Legion Drive, Cobleskill.

Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Rescue Mission, PO Box 9045, Springfield , MA 01102-9045.
