Richmondville- Evelyn Hotaling, 91, of Richmondville, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving daughters.
She was born December 14, 1922 to Albertus and Amelia Burnside in Charlotteville, one of five children.
Evelyn married Martin Hotaling in May of 1940. They were married for 64 years until his passing in 2004.
She was employed as an inspector at ACE Glove Factory in Richmondville for over ten years. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Richmondville and very active in its many organizations. Evelyn enjoyed many crafts, reading (westerns were her favorite- Zane Grey), puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include four daughters: Noreen Bergen of Howes Cave, Yvonne Brooker of Richmondville, Deborah (James) Johnson of Florida, and Allyce (Jeffrey) Smith of Richmondville, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill where a time of visitation will precede from 10 to 11 AM. Officiating will be Pastor Jeffrey Smith, Rev. Marvin Batcher, and Rev. Victor R. Zaccaro. Burial will follow in Richmondville Rural Cemetery.
