Eugene McHale Jr.

July 24, 1955 — November 2, 2019

Eugene McHale Jr.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Gene passed away after a hard and courageous battle with cancer at home with his family by his side.  He fought hard until the very end. He will be greatly missed by so many.

His father was in the Air Force, so Gene traveled around a lot in his youth to various places including living in Germany which was his favorite of all of them. He had many jobs throughout his life. He worked for Globe Glass company for many years where he met many lifelong friends. He then moved on to becoming a Stone Mason with a local Union which he enjoyed very much. He moved to Florida to enjoy a beach life for a short time before returning to New York.  Then he started working at the local Lawn and Garden Center at Walmart where he met his wife and many friends. He then moved on to Fage Yogurt Company as an inventory control specialist where he retired from in May of this year.

He loved to putter all over and enjoy life to the fullest and bring laughter and love to all!

Gene hated to sit still and was always on the go.  If there was a Giants or Yankees game on, he was sure to be watching and cheering them on. He loved spending as much time at his camp whenever he could and vacation near any beach whenever possible which he did much of that this past summer. His last few months were spent with family doing all the things he loved. Beaches, baseball, camp and family!

Gene is survived by his daughter, Hannah (Zach) Spohn, and grandchildren: Theresa and Gustave, and stepson, Warren Bennett III.  He is also survived by his loving wife, Theresa, and children: Larissa (Nate) Meléndez, Isabella (Justin) Meléndez, Aliyah Meléndez and Michael Meléndez;  his sister, Diane (Dave) James and niece, Dalyn, as well as many other nieces and nephews and friends.
