Erika Ann Schwarz

Richmondville- Erika Ann Schwarz, age 49, passed away at Albany Medical Center on January 26, 2024, after a long battle with respiratory distress and a life-long struggle with Prader-Willi Syndrome. Erika was born on July 17, 1974, the youngest child of Shirley and Daniel Schwarz.

Erika attended Guilderland Central High School and later earned her GED. Erika participated in Schenectady ARC's Life Prep Program and made numerous friends. She lived for many years in Catholic Charities residences and recently returned home to live with her mother and brother, Andy.

Erika loved babies and animals and enjoyed helping her mother with wildlife rehab. She could get the fussiest baby to relax, feed, and snuggle to sleep. Erika loved shopping, horror movies, swimming, and going on walks with her dogs. She was cheerful and friendly, loved telling jokes, and was devoted to her family.

Erika is survived by her mother, Shirley McMorris; brother, Andrew Schwarz; sister, Kristina McLaughlan; and her nephews, Alex and Isaac; as well as her father and step-mother, Daniel and Louise Schwarz. She also leaves behind her beloved aunt and uncle, Claire and Chris Eatz and her niece and nephew, Vanessa and David Eatz; as well as many other friends.

A celebration of life will be held at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 11:00am.
