Richmondville- Emile L. Maurice, 74, of Depot Street, died Friday, October 6, 2006 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, NY
Mr. Maurice was born March 12, 1932 in Fritchburg, MA, the son of Eugene and Regina (St. Laurent) Maurice.
In 1994 he retired from the Village of Richmondville after 25 years of service as a laborer. Since 2000, Mr. Maurice oversaw the recycling program for the town of Richmondville.
He was a member of the Richmondville Volunteer Emergency Squad and a communicant of St. Anna's Catholic Church in Summit.
Survivors include his wife, Marian J. (Myers) Maurice, whom he married June 6, 1959; 2 daughters: Karen Possemato of Sharon Springs and Maria Jones of Cobleskill; a son: Andre Maurice of Richmondville; a sister, Annette Vedder of Stamford; 2 brothers: Roger Maurice of Springfield, MA, and Ronald Maurice of Richmondville; 4 grandchildren: Bill Borthwick, Kayla, Matt, and Sarah Jones.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at St. Anna's Catholic Church State Route 10 Summit with Father Edward Golding as celebrant and Rev. Gary Edmister of St. Paul's Lutheran Church assisting. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM on Monday at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm St. Cobleskill. Burial will be in Richmondville Rural Cemetery.
