Warnerville- Elsie V. Rogers, 98, formerly of Mineral Springs Road, died Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the past two years.
Born November 11, 1923, in West Fulton, she was the daughter of Wallace and Della (Swart) English.
For twenty-five years Elsie worked at New York Telephone Company as an operator. She had also substituted at the former Schoharie County ARC for a few years.
Elsie was an active member of the Warnerville United Methodist Church since 1952. She had served for many years as president of the Women’s Group as well as a Sunday School Teacher.
In her leisure, she enjoyed painting with oils and watercolors, loved to sew, quilt, cook and was a writer. Elsie authored articles that were published in the Schoharie County Historical publications. Above all Elsie found the most pleasure in time spent with family and friends. She loved looking at pictures of her many West Fulton relatives. She was a member of West Fulton Historical Association and loved West Fulton, NY. Elsie was loved by all and enjoyed giving to others with cards, visits, cookies, and much love. Everyone said how much they loved her and how special she was and how thinking of her brings them a smile.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband, George, in 1984, her son, John in 1994, along with her sister, Vera Alford, and two brothers, Edgar and Vernon English.
Treasuring their memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Jane Rogers and Gael Joyal of Summit, her sister, Muriel Swanberry of MA; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much and shared many happy times. She also had many grand-nieces and nephews, whom she loved and loved her especially, Janelle Howard and Sarah Swanberry, who are daughters of Mark Swanberry of West Fulton NY. She also had many cousins. Elsie enjoyed friendship with her cousin, Carl Clapper, of West Fulton N.Y.
The family is forever grateful for the wonderful care and friendship given to Elsie from the nursing home staff at Robinson Terrace and to Christina Mann for excellent home care and caring.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date with interment in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
