Fultonham, NY - Elman "Al" H. Faulknham, 88, formerly of Fultonham, died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Palmetto-Richland Health Services in Columbia, SC.

He was born January 19, 1922 in Watertown, NY and was the son of Maude (Wyeth) and Horace Dee Faulknham.

Al served in the United States Army from 1944 to1945 and was decorated with a Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, and a POW Medal. He was service manager for Montgomery Ward in Ithaca, NY before retiring. Al enjoyed summering at Rensselaer Falls, NY and was a former member of the Middleburgh Reformed Church. In 2000, he moved from Fultonham, NY to Sumter, SC.

He was predeceased by his wife, Norma "Jane" Faulknham on September 23, 1993.

Al is survived by a daughter, Lorraine (Chris) McAdoo of Middleburgh, NY, a son, Loren Faulknham of Norwich, NY, five grandchildren, Jenna and Jake McAdoo, Lynette (Greg) McCoy, Matthew Faulknham, and Amanda (Jeffrey) Brewer, and four great-grandchildren, Ashelyn, Hayden, Emilee McCoy and Aubrey Brewer.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh, NY. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home from 12 - 1 PM, prior to the service. Spring interment will be in Middleburgh Cemetery.

The family has requested memorial contributions in Al's name be made to Palmetto Health Hospice, PO Box 100199, Columbia, SC 29202-3199 and/or The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, PO Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202, www.lls.org (In tribute to "TEAM EMILEE").
