Middleburgh, NY: Mrs. Ellen G. Katchur, 89, formerly of 112 Wells Ave., died on Sun., Jan. 14, 2007 at Robinson Terrace, Stamford where she had lived for five years.
Mrs. Katchur was born on Jan. 7, 1918 in Manhattan, NY a daughter of John and Lillian Wilson Welch. She was a retired legal secretary for the Port Authority in New York City. Before being a legal secretary, she was a professional dancer performing with the ROCKETTS at Radio City Music Hall, as a pony , which is the first group of dancers on the stage and then she performed at the 21 Club in New York She was acquainted with Arthur Godfrey, Ed Sullivan, Kate Smith and many other show people.
Ellen and her husband Joe were actively doing charity work for the older people and children on Indian Reservations in Wisconsin, North and South Dakota and Montana.
Ellen was a communicant of St. Catherine's Church in Middleburgh.
Surviving are her husband, Julius (Joe) Katchur.
Friends may call Thurs. evening from 7-9 P.M. at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Fri., Jan. 19, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Catherine's Church with Father Thomas Holmes as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Queens, NY
