Middleburgh- Elizabeth Gilligan, 91, of Campbell Hill Road, died Thursday, September 29, 2016 at home, with her loving husband and family at her side.
Elizabeth was born in Ossining, NY on December 1, 1924 to Elizabeth (Sherwood) and Roland E. Hochstatder.
Elizabeth was the Deputy Clerk for the the Town of Cortlandt for many years, before retiring. She lived in Croton-on-Hudson before moving to Middleburgh.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, playing cards, bowling and walks in the woods with her grandchildren. Elizabeth also had a fondness for rock collecting and labeling where she found each one.
She was predeceased by her son: Robert E. Gilligan, Jr. and her sister: Vera Buck.
Elizabeth is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 71 years, Robert E. Gilligan, Sr., of Middleburgh, whom she married on October 15, 1944 and son: Roland E. (Mary Jo) Gilligan of Middleburgh; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held privately.
