Middleburgh- Elizabeth H. Decker, 86, formerly of Middleburgh, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Otsego Manor where she had been a resident for the past six years.

Born May 12, 1927 in South Valley, she was the daughter of Spencer and Marcia (Yager) Brown, Sr.

Betty resided in Middleburgh for many years, and also Sharon Springs. She was employed as a nurse's aide for the former Eden Park Nursing Home in Cobleskill and had been a chambermaid at the former resorts in Sharon Springs. Betty retired from American Thermostat in Cairo where she was a machinist.

She had a strong personality and was outspoken, funny, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Betty enjoyed crocheting and loved her dogs and cats.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Decker, Sr., who died in 1976, and her sons, Raymond Decker, Jr., who died in 2012, and Dyney Decker, who died at a very young age.

Survivors include her son: Larry (Nancy) Decker of Worcester; her daughter: Linda Decker of Troy; two sisters: Dorothy Preston of Oneonta and Marjorie Moxham of Fonda; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Otsego Manor, 128 Phoenix Mills Crossroad, Cooperstown with a time a visitation from 4 -5 prior to the service. A private graveside service will be held at Sharon Cemetery, Leesville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Middleburgh Emergency Volunteer Ambulance Corp., PO Box 817, Middleburgh, NY 12122.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh.
