Cobleskill- Mrs. Elizabeth, "Lillian", Callahan, 87, of Jay Street, died Monday, December 15, 2008 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown after a brief illness.
Mrs. Callahan was born November 8, 1921 in College Point, NY, the daughter of Roland and Lizzie
(Kenny) Hoffelder. Living most of her life in Queens, she and her husband resided in Rensselaerville and then Lillian moved to Cobleskill in 2000.
Mrs. Callahan was employed as a bookkeeper for Dairylea Creamery in Woodside, NY for twenty years.
Her hobbies included oil painting and crafts.
She was of Catholic faith and was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cobleskill.
Her husband, Edward J. Callahan, predeceased her on August 29, 1991.
Survivors include three daughters: Anne (Michael) Lemanwicz of Whitestone, NY, Elizabeth, "Betty" Callahan of Cobleskill, and Kathleen (Jerry) LeClaire of Bay Shore, NY; two sons: Edward (Kathleen) Callahan of Cobleskill and Michael (Felice) Callahan of East Amherst, NY; one brother, Roland Hoffelder of Garden City, NY; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2008 at St. Vincent de Paul Church 138 Washington Ave. Cobleskill with Father Thomas Holmes as celebrant. Friends are invited to call from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill. Spring interment will be in Rensselaerville Rural Cemetery.
