Eleanor Rotolo
Cobleskill- Eleanor P. Rotolo, 94, of Main Street, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, MA.
Born February 25, 1918 in Charlton, NY, she was the daughter of William R. and Luella (Smith) Packer.
Eleanor graduated in 1936 from the former Cobleskill Central School and chaired many class reunions including their sixty-fifth reunion. She continued her education at the Mildred Elley School in Albany where she graduated and went on to work for the New York State Dept. of Labor. She retired in 1979 after forty years of employment.
Eleanor was an active member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cobleskill, participating in Alter Guild and the Adult Choir. Eleanor was also a member of the Community Church Choir, Community Women's Choir, Hand bell Choir, and Hillbilly Band. She served on various committees, including Bicentennial, Coffee Hour, Property, Worship, Trash and Treasures, and the Ruby Unit with the local hospital auxiliary. Eleanor also enjoyed her time spent with the Evening Bags.
She traveled extensively with the Buddy Bunch and enjoyed trips to Cape Cod, Maine, and Scotland.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband, Albert John Rotolo, Jr.
She is survived by two nephews: David (Eileen) Johnson of North Egremont, MA and William (Jane) Johnson of Milford, MA; six grandnieces and nephews; three great-grandnieces and nephews; and two cousins: Marian Connors of Scotia and Herbert (Carol) Smith of Charlton, NY.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Stage Road, Charlton, NY. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 615 Main St., Cobleskill with Rev. Sara Litzner officiating. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 615 Main St., Cobleskil, NY 12043.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh.
