Eleanor Dobson

Richmondville- Eleanor M. Dobson, 95, of West Richmondville Rd., died Friday, November 25, 2016 at her daughter's residence following a long illness.

Born July 11, 1921 in on Dorloo Rd., West Richmondville, she was the daughter of Arthur and Florence (Scott) Coons, Sr.

Eleanor loved to paint crafts and teach children about Jesus. She became a baptized on May 13, 1967 and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Central Bridge.

Eleanor married Abram Dobson in 1946 and he predeceased her in 1991. She was also predeceased by two brothers: Royal Coons and Arthur Coons, Jr., two grandsons, one great-granddaughter, and one great-grandson.

Survivors include two daughters: Gail (George Bender of Richmondville and Glenna (Bruce) Peckham of Notasulga, AL; a stepson: Gary Dobson of Saranac, NY; seventeen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to a funeral service to be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Church St., Central Bridge, where a period of visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sharon Cemetery, Leesville.

Memorial contributions may be made to a church of your choice of Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 125 Granite St., Suite 1, Cobleskill, NY 12043.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home of Middleburgh.
