Cobleskill- Edward J. Slater, 75, of South Grand Street, died Monday, June 4, 2007 at the Stratton Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Albany.
Mr. Slater was born May 13, 1932 in Cobleskill, the son of Ronald E. and Retha (Priddle) Slater.
He was a lifelong area resident and had retired as a truck driver for a logging company. Most recently, Mr. Slater was the delivery person for Speedling Florist in Cobleskill.
He was a former member of the Cobleskill Volunteer Fire Department and was an avid bowler.
Survivors include his 3 sons: Edward R. Slater of Middleburgh, Gary Slater of Watertown, and Michael Murati of Texas; his sister, Margaret Doyle of New Braunsfels, TX; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 6, at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm St. Cobleskill with Father Edward Golding of St. Anna's Catholic Church in Summit officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 7 PM on Wednesday, prior to the service. Private inurnment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
