Hyndsville, NY-(Schoharie County) - Edward C. Becker, Sr., 77, of State Route 10, died suddenly at Cobleskill Regional Hospital on Wednesday, February 24, 2010.
Born September 24, 1932 in Summit, NY, he was a son of Claude and Ruth (Sperbeck) Becker.
Ed was a lifelong area resident and retired after 20 years of owning and operating Triangle Ridge Dairy Farm on Clove Road in the Town of Seward.
He was a member of the Lawyersville Reformed Church for fifty-nine years. Ed had bowled with the Country League for many years and also enjoyed hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Nirschl) Becker, whom he married December 29, 1951; a daughter, Christine J. Hibbard of Cobleskill; two sons: Edward C. Becker, Jr. of Cobleskill and Arnold (Donna) Becker of Euless, TX; a sister, Janet (Richard) VanValkenburg of Summit; three brothers: Ivan (Barbara) Becker of Richmondville, Wade (Karen) Palmatier of Summit, and DeWayne Palmatier of Kansas; eleven grandchildren: Edward C. Becker III of North Carolina, Kesha M. Becker of North Carolina, Shane (Stacey) Hayes of Cobleskill, Amanda, Ashley, Cermen, Sabrina, Ivone, Briana, Scotty, and Gabriel Becker, all of Euless, TX; two great-grandchildren: Jason E. Becker of Midland, NC, and Titayana Becker of Euless, TX; several in-laws: Anton (Polly) Nirschl, Jr. of Cobleskill, Josephine (Ivan) King of Broadalbin, NY, Robert C. (Beatrice) Nirschl of Sharon Springs, Betty L. Cullen of Sharon Springs, Beverly (Robert) Kachmarik of Harriburg, NC, Allen H. (Joan) Nirschl of East Worcester, NY, Edwin C. (Kathy) Nirschl of Maryland, NY, Richard L. (Rena) Nirschl of Cobleskill, Dr. David L. (Linda) Nirschl of Mohrsville, PA, Stephen A. (Barbara) Nirschl of Cobleskill, and Susan L. (Gary) Davis of Cobleskill; and many nieces, and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the Lawyersville Reformed Church with Rev. Pacia Ferrell Vamvas officiating. Inurnment will be in Zion Rural Cemetery, Town of Seward at a later date. Cremation will take place at Vale Crematory Schenectady. There will be no calling hours.
