Richmondville- Eduard O.W. Glaser, 82, formerly of Richmondville, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown following a short illness.
Born in Germany on December 23, 1928, Ed joined the Army at the age of ten. He came to the United States as a young adult and proudly became a naturalized citizen in 1982.
Ed had lived in Richmondville since the early 1970's and for the past few years had resided at Sharon Springs Manor Home for Adults. He was a member of the Richmondville Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Richmondville United Methodist Church.
Ed retired from General Electric where he had been employed for twenty-eight years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen (Bonner) Glaser, who died Jan. 5, 2011 and his son, Eric E. Glaser, who died Feb. 13, 1997.
Ed is survived by his dear friends, Kathleen Tischmacher Young, and her family: Melvin (Amy) Terrell of Richmondville, The Rev. Michael (Jennifer) Terrell of Northville, and Melody Hathaway of Cobleskill.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Michael Terrell officiating. Friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 AM, Wed., prior to the service. Inurnment will be private in Richmondville Rural Cemetery.
