Central Bridge- Edna M. Hicks, 82, formerly of Central Bridge, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where she had been a resident since 2003.
Born August 14, 1929 in Nelliston, Edna was a daughter of Roy and Mildred (Sparks) Sweet.
She was a graduate of Canajoharie High School and had been employed at the Beechnut Factory in Canajoharie for several years. Most of her married life, she lived in Central Bridge, and became a homemaker to raise her children and also care for other children in the area.
Edna was a member of the Central Bridge United Methodist Church.
On November 4, 1956 she married Elmer Hicks, and he predeceased her on June 23, 1992. She was also predeceased by two step-daughters: Elaine Walker of Caroga Lake and Irene Hicks of Tampa, FL.
Survivors include her son: Kevin (Susan) Hicks of Clifton Park; and three step-daughters: Martha Roskowski of Canajoharie, Mary Hicks of Albany, and Doris Hicks of Gloversville.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 25, 2012 at Fort Plain Cemetery with Rev. Steffen Zehrfuhs of the Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Central Bridge officiating. There will be no calling hours.
