Edmund "Ed" A. Nebauer, 81, of Huntersland Rd., died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at his home, following a long illness.

Mr. Nebauer was born on May 10, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY a son of the late Hattie (King) and Edmund A. Nebauer, Sr. He was employed by the Metropolitan Transit Authority in NYC as a signal maintainer. After moving to Middleburgh, NY he worked in the maintenance department for West Mall Associates in Albany, NY. He loved all things mechanical and with a passion for woodworking created cherished heirlooms for family and friends. He enjoyed railroading and had an extensive collection of model trains. He also owned and restored a caboose from the Delaware and Hudson Railroad, currently on loan to the Cooperstown and Charlotte Valley Railroad. He was an active member and volunteer of the Leatherstocking Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society and also a member of the Huntersland United Methodist Church.

Mr. Nebauer was predeceased by his son, Gary E. Nebauer and his foster-daughter, Kristy Wilkins.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn (Wieduwilt) Nebauer, daughters Linda (Harold) Guest of Middleburgh, NY, Laurie (John) Rotondaro of Colonie, NY, son, Chris Nebauer of Florida, grandchildren, Cheryl (Jack) Rechnitzer, Sara (Matt) Miller, Elena Guest, Katelyn and Jacqueline Rotondaro, Trisha, Brandon and Justin Nebauer and great grandchildren, Kiley and Elijah Rechnitzer.

A funeral service will be held at 10am, Saturday April 25, 2009 at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh, NY 12122. Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Middleburgh Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call from 6-8pm Friday April 24, 2009 at the funeral home.
