Edith Bates

Dorloo- Mrs. Edith Bates, 86, of Lowe Road, died Wednesday, August 15,2007 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
Mrs. Bates was born February 12,1921 in Conesville, the daughter of Arthur and Edna (Bates) Ingerham. She was a seamstress for many years and retired from the Glove Master in Richmondville.
Mrs. Bates was predeceased by a son, Arthur "Buck" Bates, who died October 2, 1993.
Survivors include 3 daughters: Joan Smith of East Meredith, NY, Gloria Chamberlain of Dorloo, and Lucille Waid of Davenport; 5 sons: Amos Bates, Jr., of Wells Bridge, NY, Donald Bates of Gardnerville, NV, Harvey Bates of Richmondville, Richard Bates of Dorloo, and Samuel Bates of Niskayuna; 28 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, Aug. 20, 2007 at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm St. Cobleskill. Officiating will be Rev. Mel Farmer. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Seward Valley Cemetery, Dorloo.
