Seward- Earl Manchester, 86, of Gardnersville Road, died Friday, February 15, 2019 at Palatine Nursing Home where he had been a resident for the past month.
Born March 1, 1932 in Worcester, NY, Earl was the son of Victor and Marietta (Goodfellow) Manchester.
He was a United States Army veteran, proudly serving his country from 1953 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1954.
Earl worked for the former Adler’s Creamery in Seward and then Glen & Mohawk in Fultonville, which changed to Northeast Dairy. He retired from the Seward Highway Department where he was a truck driver for many years.
Since retirement, Earl enjoyed holding his social club at the kitchen table.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Vivian J. (Weaver) Manchester; three daughters: Debra (Ben) Roseboom of Westford, Cathy Manchester (Dave Dibble) of Summit, and Nancy Wendel of Carrollton, TX; his twin sister, Erma Lampkin of Amsterdam; brother, Wilson D. Manchester of Sharon Springs; five grandchildren: Taylor, Corey, Alexis, Courtney and Connor; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Slate Hill Cemetery in the Spring. Private visitation will be held for the immediate family.
Memorial contributions in Earl’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
