Central Bridge- Douglas A. Schrom, 74, of South Main St., died at home on Friday, April 1, 2011.
Born July 6, 1936 in Richmondville, he was a son of Charles and Cecil (Marsh) Schrom.
Douglas was a United States Army veteran serving from 1954 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1956.
Douglas was an electrician for several years in Scotia where he lived for the duration of his job. He later moved to Schenectady and was employed at Yank Waste until his retirement.
Survivors include a niece and her husband, Regina and John Bailey and their son, Jordan Davenport; three sisters: Ethel (Richard, Sr.) German of Middleburgh, Marion (John, Sr.) Bender of Schoharie, and Carol Williams of Schenectady; three brothers: Roger (Christine) Schrom of Gallupville, Charles (Diane) Schrom of Schoharie, and Lawrence Schrom, Sr. of Gilboa; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Douglas was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Mickle and a brother, Earl (Sam) Schrom.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. Officiating will be Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home from 10 to 11 AM Tuesday, prior to the service. A committal service with military honors will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery at 1:30 PM on Tuesday,
