Douglas Kipp, 91, of Corbin Hill Road, Sprakers, New York died Monday, March 31, 2025, at his home with his family by his side.
Born on December 25, 1933, in Troy, New York, he was the son of Raymond Wesley Kipp and Ethel Mae Bussing Kipp. He had been a resident of Saratoga County for most of his life.
Most recently Doug was a Mail Carrier for Nynex, now known as Verizon. He was a Jack of all trades, working as a farmer, Deputy Sherriff for Saratoga County, Malta Test Sight Security Guard, Bus Driver, Insurance Adjustor, Chauffer and Bodyguard for Mary Lou Whitney, and many other jobs throughout his 91 years.
Doug was a member of various motorcycle clubs and organizations. He enjoyed racing and loved anything with wheels. He had a love for nature enjoying, camping, canoeing, fishing, and traveling with his wife in their RV. He also had a love for animals of all kinds. He was a storyteller and loved to sing and dance. Doug loved to fly. He had dreams of becoming a pilot and talked about it often. He sang with John Denver at Red Rocks, met Barbara Streisand, and was a movie extra for Ghost Story. Most important of all he was a great husband and father.
He met the love of his life, Lela Kay Hutchinson, and they were married July 26,1989, at a friend's house on Summit Lake.
His parents; brother, John Kipp; and sister, Betty Floud predeceased him.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Lela Kay Kipp; children, Paul and Theresa Kipp of Stillwater, NY, Edward and Paula Kipp of VanBuren, AR, Tina and Mike Foote of Sprakers, NY; brother, Marvin Kipp of Ohio; sister, Diana and Stanley Haltasky of Mechanicville, NY; grandchildren Sergeant Isiah Kipp (Jenna) of Fort Hood, TX, Niki Lord of Albany, NY, Trinity Nolette of New York, Allen and Sara Kipp of Stillwater, NY, Jimmy Kipp (Virginia), April and Jason Seals of Texas, Michael and Kristian Kipp of AR, Laura Kipp of New York; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 1:00-2:00pm at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY 12043 with a funeral service following at 2:00pm at the funeral home.
