Gilboa: Douglas L. Ackerley, 73, of Flat Creek Road, died suddenly, Monday August 1, 2011.
Douglas was born in Margaretville, NY, on September 16, 1937, a son of Marjorie (Faulkner) and William P. Ackerley.
He graduated form South Kortright Central School in 1956 and served in the United States Army from 1956 -1958.
Douglas worked for the Delaware Electric Co-Op and then for the Marcy South Program, installing electric power lines. He would later work for the Village and Town of Delhi and for SUNY Delhi. Douglas retired from the Delaware National Bank in Delhi. Never one to remain inactive, Douglas returned to work in the Maintenance Department at Green Thumb in Stamford. He has also sold rural estates for the past 9 years, through Century 21.
Douglas enjoyed working and helping others when needed. He loved his family, extended family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth Storey Loucks of Gilboa; daughters: Terri Groh of Dover Plains, Tracy Gockel of Prattsville; son: Timothy Ackerley of Florida; sisters: Iris Wood of Breakabeen, Jackie Cotter of Johnstown; brother: Donald Ackerley of Hobart; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
At Douglas's request, there will be no public services. Cremation will take place at the Vale Crematory in Schenectady.
