Dorwin Harrington Jr.

December 15, 1943 — October 9, 2019

Dorwin Harrington Jr.

Carlisle- Dorwin “Lyle” Harrington Jr., age 75, of Carlisle found eternal peace and went home with the Lord on October 9, 2019 with his loving wife and son by his side.

Lyle was born in Worcester, NY, December 15, 1943, the son of Dorwin and Pearl (Roe) Harrington Sr. After graduating Cobleskill Central High School in 1962 he went on to serve in the US Army.  He spent 3 years in the Army with 13 months of service in Korea.  Upon receiving his honorable discharge at the rank of SP5 he returned to Cobleskill, NY and married his high school sweetheart of 4 years NancyLee Sisson. Together they settled in Carlisle where they shared their lives and made memories.

Lyle worked for GE of Schenectady and Von Roll Isola USA Inc., until retiring in 2006. He enjoyed being outside and working in his yard and vegetable gardens. He got great joy from being outside watching the wildlife, riding his lawn tractor and picking wildflowers for his beloved wife. Being an inventor, woodworker and tinkerer, he made many unique lawn decorations for people to enjoy. After retirement he kept busy in his church communities, both Grovenors Corners United Methodist Church and Barnerville Methodist Church, and sharing time with his family and friends. He enjoyed a lot of time working with “3D Construction” as he called it (Dean, Dorwin & Debbie) where he made many memories working on weekend projects remodeling and building with his son and daughter-in-law. He and his son shared a love for old cars and spent time together at car shows and working on the restoration of their 1963 Impala.

He is survived by his wife, NancyLee (Sisson) Harrington of 54 plus years; his son, Dean (Debbie) Harrington; grandchildren: Amanda (Jerry) Miller, Kristofer (Jazmin) Harrington, Shannon (Jeremy) Engwer and Brittany Hagadorn; great-grandchildren: Jayce and Ellie Harrington and Dawson Harrington-Engwer;  sisters: Laura Fancher and Ruth Hayes and several nieces and nephews. Lyle was pre-deceased by his parents, Dorwin Sr. and Pearl (Roe) Harrington; his brother-in-law, Joe Fancher and niece, Annette Fancher.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. A gentle soul, he was poetic and kind. He will be forever loved.
