Cobleskill- Dorothy C. “Dottie” Dikeman, 87, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021, at Robinson Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation in Stamford, NY after a brief illness.

She was born on July 4, 1933, in Honolulu, HI and was the daughter of Manuel and Agnes (Mahiai) Coelho.

Dottie proudly served in the United States Marine Corp from 1953 until her honorable discharge in 1954.  She married fellow Marine, Richard Dikeman on September 11, 1954.  He predeceased her on October 23, 2004.  She was also predeceased by her daughter Shirley Foland and great-granddaughter Keala Lei Aloha Burgess.

She enjoyed her time gardening, bird watching, and was a member of the Cobleskill Golf and Country Club, the Friday Night Keglers and the Wednesday Morning Bowling Leagues and was inducted into the Schoharie County Bowling Hall of Fame.  Dottie was active within 4-H and was an admired leader within the organization.

Her most cherished moments were time spent with her beloved family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters: Leslie Bellinger of Cobleskill and Wendy Dikeman of Cobleskill; son-in-law James (Squeak) Foland of Smithsburg, MD; like a son Walter G. Bellinger of Jefferson, NY; grandchildren: Clark (Ginnie) Gorsin of Benbrook, TX, Ronald (Jodi) Williams of Fonda, NY, Keala Burgess of Jacksonville, NC, Pualani (Herbie) Ralph of Smithsburg, MD and Nikkilynne Bellinger of Jefferson, NY  and her great-grandchildren: Coby Gorsin, Mackenzie Lewis, Ryan Lewis, Jameson Burgess, Tucker Burgess, Kasen Colasanti, Natalie Ralph, Nathan Ralph, Mason Ralph, Jayde Cummings, Roxas Bellinger and Gage Vanvorhis.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12PM to 4PM on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the Cobleskill Fire Department, 610 E. Main St., Cobleskill.  Please bring a dish to pass if you’d like.

The family has requested memorial contributions to be made in Dottie’s memory to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Cure Association.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, NY.
