Middleburgh- Dorothy E. Schrom, 72, of State Route 30, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Ellis Hospital.
Mrs. Schrom was born Feb. 1, 1937 in Middleburgh, the daughter of David and Elsie (Kelley) Earles.
She was a lifelong area resident and for many years was employed at Mountain View Manor Home for Adults in Middleburgh. For nine years, Mrs. Schrom was the delicatessen manager at the Grand Union in Middleburgh.
Her enjoyment came from playing cards, shopping, knitting, and chaperoning the senior citizens trips.
Mrs. Schrom was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Schrom, in 2004.
Survivors include her two daughters: Nardeana (Philip) Bohringer of Middleburgh, and Cyndra Niekamp (Chris Groves) of Richmondville; her son, Kenneth (Barbara) Schrom of Central Bridge; her grandchildren: Todd (Andrea) Bohringer, Nicolas (Mary) Bohringer, Jason Niekamp, Brittney Marie Schrom, and Christopher Rissue; and a great-granddaughter, Nola Bohringer.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River Street, Middleburgh. Officiating will be Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church. Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 1 to 2 PM on Sunday, at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will be private in Middleburgh Cemetery.
