Sharon Springs- Mrs. Dorothy M. Fedyk, 94, formerly of Cohoes, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at her daughter's residence.
Mrs. Fedyk was born September 19, 1913 in Cohoes, NY, the daughter of Fred and Sidney (Teal) LaCross. She was educated in Cohoes and married Nicholas P. Fedyk, October 30, 1937. In 1953 they moved to Boght Corners where she was a member of the Fireman's Auxiliary. Mrs. Fedyk was a tape winder for Norton & Nashua Tape Company in Watervliet and a member of the paper workers' union. Mrs. Fedyk returned to Cohoes in 1972 and remained there until 1996 when she moved to Troy. In August 2004 she moved to her daughter's home in Sharon Springs.
She was a communicant of the former St. Agnes Catholic Church in Cohoes, and most recently attended St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cobleskill.
She was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas P. Fedyk, who died on June 14, 1966, her son, Peter N. Fedyk, who died May 30, 2007, two sisters: Mildred Kenny and Irene Cardegna, and a brother, Raymond LaCross.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol A. Bader of Sharon Springs; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Fedyk of Lawrenceville, GA; 2 sisters: Helen Zimmerman and Jennie Testa, both of Latham; her grandchildren: Julie Brizzee and husband Michael of Cobleskill, Janice Bader of Haverill, MA, Lynette Lawyer and husband, Jeffrey of Howes Cave, Nicholas Fedyk and wife, Jocelyn of Lawrenceville, GA, Erika Morrow of Lawrenceville, GA, and Matthew Fedyk of Lawrenceville, GA; great-grandchildren: Kimberly and Jason Brizzee, Peter N. Fedyk II, Darby Kate Fedyk., and Haley Lawyer; sister-in-law: Grace Fedyk of Mechanicsburg, PA; brother-in-law: Lawrence Prediger of Green Island, NY, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 at Our Lady of Hope Residence Chapel, Latham, NY. Celebrant will be her nephew, Father Richard Testa. A Prayer Service will be held at 5:30 PM on Sunday Nov. 18 with calling hours from 3PM to 5:30 PM at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm Street Cobleskill, NY. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes, NY.
