Doris Wood

Cobleskill- Doris C. Wood, 94, of Early Woodland Apartments, formerly of Warnerville, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.

Born April 26, 1922 in Blenheim, she was the daughter of John and Rua (Keyser) Van Wormer.

She graduated from Middleburgh Central School in 1941. Doris was a seamstress for the former Van Deusen Dress Factory in Cobleskill, retiring after thirty-seven years.

She loved to cook, bake and knit. Remember Doris Wood's chocolate jumbo cookies? Many of her family, friends, and neighbors will.

Survivors include her husband, Howard L. Wood, whom she married June 5, 1945; her son, Donald H. (Wendy) Wood of Midland, TX; her grandson: Walter L. Wood of Tulsa, OK; her granddaughter: Marian N. Wood of Midland, TX; nephews: Gary Case of Conesville and John Wilsey of Schenectady, Mark (Terry) Wood of Schoharie, David (Beth) Wood of Middleburgh; nieces: Karen (Jack) Miller of Middleburgh, Christine (Larry) Mickle of Schoharie and Susan Makely of Middleburgh; a grandnephew: Steven Allen of Cobleskill; two brothers-in-law: Malcolm Wood of Schoharie and Keith (Claudette) Wood of Middleburgh; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill where a period of visitation will take place prior to the service from 12 PM to 1 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Pamela Mikel Hayes of the Cobleskill United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Old Stone Fort Cemetery, Schoharie.
