Middleburgh- Doris M. Spickerman, 76, of Frisbieville Rd. died peacefully Sunday June 17, 2012, at home, surrounded by her family, while being serenaded by her favorite singer, Tennessee Ernie Ford.
Doris was born on February 26, 1936 in Breakabeen to the late Esther (Hadsell) and Lloyd Mann.
Doris attended Middleburgh Central School and graduated from there in 1953. She later went on to be a secretary at Middleburgh Central School, retiring after many years. In 1963, Doris and her husband Jim opened and operated Twin Oaks Campground in Middleburgh, NY, until 1969. She was a member of the American Legion Post #1261 Ladies Auxiliary in Schoharie, NY and in her free time Doris enjoyed bowling, trips to the casino, playing bingo, crocheting, traveling and spending time with her friends and family.
Doris was married to James C. Spickerman on April 23, 1955. He predeceased her on March 16, 2010.
She is survived by her daughter: Kari (Steve) Burdeau of Phoenixville, PA; her sons: Gerry (Jackie) Spickerman of Oxford, MA, Clark (Tammy) Spickerman of Malta, NY, Charley (Laura) Spickerman; her sister: Mary (Charles) Warwick of Jacksonville, Fl.; her brother: John (Aurora) Mann of Lafayette, IN.; 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A Graveside service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, June 30, 2010 in the Old Stone Fort Cemetery, Fort Rd., Schoharie, NY. There will be no public visitation. Cremation will take place at the Vale Crematory in Schenectady, NY.
