Doris King

Sharon Springs- Doris J. King, 92, formerly of Sharon Springs, died peacefully on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at her son’s home in Harpersfield.

Born September 13, 1925 in Patria, she was the daughter of Milo and Orpha (King) Stanton.

Doris was a lifelong area resident, working alongside her husband, Lester, on their dairy farm on Sakon Road in Sharon Springs most of her married life.  Later she was employed as a home health aide for eighteen years with the former Intercounty Home Health in Cobleskill.  In her leisure, she enjoyed cooking and gardening.

Lester predeceased her in 1972, along with her son, Bruce, in 2014, a granddaughter, Rhonda, and a grandson, Kyle.  Doris was the last surviving child in her family of thirteen children.

Survivors include her sons:  Kenneth (Mary) King of Dorloo, and Dennis (Eileen) King of Harpersfield; daughter-in-law, Bonnie King of TN; ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 12PM on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, where a period of visitation will precede the service from 10AM to noon.  Officiating will be Rev. Donald Klob.  Spring interment will be in Slate Hill Cemetery, Sharon, NY.
