Cobleskill- Doris M. Burton, 94, formerly of Cobleskill, died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in Schenectady.

Born October 20, 1922 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of Donald and Nina (Reeves) Van Eps.

Doris married Donald W. Burton on July 1, 1950 and they resided in Cobleskill for a few years prior to moving to Delaware and then came back in 1966. She was a member of the Cobleskill United Methodist Church, where she served as secretary for many years. Later Doris was a cashier at the bookstore at SUNY Cobleskill for several years.

In 1985, she and her husband moved to Florida and then to Longview in Ithaca to be closer to family. Most recently, Doris has lived at Kingsway Arms Village Apartments in Schenectady.

Doris was predeceased by her husband in 2010 and her son, James, in 2013.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Burton of Schenectady; daughter-in-law, Gail Burton of Dryden; two grandchildren: Sarah (Jeff) Flynn of Cherry Hill, NJ and Dana Burton of Ithaca; two great-grandchildren: James and Welles Flynn of Cherry Hill, NJ; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held from 1 to 3 PM on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
