Dorathea Gaylor

Dorloo- Dorathea “Dot” M. Gaylor, 87, of State Route 165, died on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born November 4, 1931 in Queens, she was the daughter of Adolf and Agnes (Stelling) Doscher.

Dot was a graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School and worked part-time at American Finance Company and the Times Journal.  She was also a substitute mail carrier for the Town of Seward.

In the past, she enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint crafts.  Dot was a member of the Christian Community Church of Faith and the Red Hat Society.

On July 14, 1951, Dot married Charles Byron Gaylor, and he predeceased her on April 14, 1992.

Her memories will be cherished by four children:  Elizabeth Gaylor (Butch Chichester), MaryLou (Geoff) Haig, Kathy (Phillip) Davis and Robert (Stephanie) Gaylor; six grandchildren:  Amanda (Kevin) Collins, Jeremy (Jamie) Davis, Kelsey (Peter) Radliff, Katelyn (Shane) Tessier, Dakota Gaylor (Jenevieve Broadwell) and Mackenzie Gaylor; and five great-grandchildren:  Juliette, Nathaniel and Jason Davis, Ryden Collins, and Athena Tessier.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, with Rev. David Houck officiating.  Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home prior to the service, from 1 to 2 PM.  Burial will follow in Slate Hill Cemetery, Sharon, NY.
