Donna Ferris

Decatur- Donna M. Ferris, 71, of County Highway 37, formerly of North Blenheim, died Friday, September 9, 2016 at home, with her family by her side.

Donna was born on June 22, 1945 in Cobleskill, NY to Lillian P. (Warner) and Robert K. Wilson.

She graduated from Gilboa-Conesville Central School in 1962 and went on to attend Gorham School of Beauty, in Schenectady, receiving her license to cut hair. Opening the doors in April of 1964, she owned and operated the Hilltop Beauty Salon in North Blenheim.

Donna was married in May of 1964 to Donald W. Ferris and lived in North Blenheim until 2011 when she moved to Decatur. She was a well known artist and enjoyed working with oil paint. Donna completed 41 paintings of the North Blenheim Covered Bridge, among other works.

Donna was a member of the former North Blenheim Presbyterian Church.

She was predeceased by her husband: Donald W. Ferris, her grandson: Michael D. Ferris, and her parents: Lillian P. Warner Wilson and Robert K. Wilson.

Donna is survived by her son: David W. (Rhonda) Ferris of Worcester, NY; brother: Robert K. (Margaret) Wilson of North Blenheim; grandson: Matthew D. Ferris of Worcester, NY; niece: Amy Wilson of North Blenheim; many cousins, friends and caregivers: Denise Burgher and Danielle Hunt.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh with Rev. Stephen F. Shick officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, North Blenheim. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held from 6:00-8:00PM on Monday, September 12, 2016 at the funeral home.
