Donald Smigiel Sr

Huntersland: Donald K. Smigiel, Sr., 67, of Huntersland Road, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Donald was born in Queens, NY the son of Johanna Baier.

Donald worked many places, most recently at PJ Food Service in Rotterdam.

He enjoyed metal detecting, collecting loose change off the sidewalks of Middleburgh, playing cards, collecting baseball cards and taking trips to Turning Stone Casino.

Donald was a devoted family man and will be remembered for generously sharing his time and talents to help family members and friends.

Besides his mother, Donald was predeceased by his step-father: Frank Hummel and siblings; Irene Dunn, Mike Smigiel, William Smigiel and Vincent Smigiel.

Donald is survived by his children: Antoinette Smigiel, Holly (Danny) Trombley, Donald K. Smigiel, Jr., and Chance Smigiel, all of Huntersland; sisters: Mary Ashley of Catskill, Joan Lang of Cairo, Anne Fischer of Durham; brothers: John Smigiel of Greenville, George Smigiel of New Jersey, Robert Smigiel of California; grandchildren: Shawni Boyce, John Mead, Chealsa Smigiel, Abby Smigiel and Hunter Smigiel all of Huntersland; companion: Gladys Crapser and her son Christopher of Middleburgh; his granddog: Nugent.

A celebration of Donald's life will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Trombley residence, 1993 Huntersland Road, Middleburgh, NY 12122. Cremation took place at Vale Crematory in Schenectady.
