Schoharie- Donald L. Russell, 85, of Locust Lane, died Friday, September 12, 2014 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown following a short illness.
Born October 8, 1928 in Conesville, he was the son of Ford and Edna (Roe) Russell.
Donald was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving his country from 1950 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1956
He retired from Schoharie County Highway Department and prior to that, he was employed at the Town of Conesville Highway Department.
Following retirement, Don enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motorhome and spending winters in Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie J. (Young) Russell, whom he married July 3, 1978, and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh where a calling hour will precede the service from 10 to 11. Officiating will be Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Manorkill Cemetery.
