Warnerville- Donald C. Phelan, 82, of West Fulton Road, died peacefully in the comfort of his home on Sunday, December 26, 2021.
Born February 16, 1939, in Cobleskill, he was the son of the late Charles and Esther (Tingue) Phelan.
A lifetime area resident, Don graduated from the former Cobleskill Central School and became a dairy farmer, owning and operating Boulder Brook Farm. He served on various boards, Schoharie Cooperative Dairy, Farm Service Agency, and Warnerville United Methodist Church.
Don was a sports fanatic. Watching stockcar racing was also one of his favorite pastimes.
He was a devoted family-oriented person and loved camping with his wife, Kay. He married her on August 15, 1959, and she predeceased him on October 9, 2011.
Treasuring their memories are his children: Michael Phelan, Nancy (Mike) Spenello, David (Helene) Phelan and Julie (Steve) Fancher all of Warnerville; his grandchildren: Nicholas (Liz) Phelan, Kimberly (Matt) Koski, Gregory Phelan, Christopher (Danielle) Phelan, Nathaniel Phelan, Zachary (Meghan) Fancher and Justin Fancher; four great-grandchildren: Cayden, Callie, Kaylynn and Emlyn Kay; his sisters: Lois Edelman of Hillsdale, NY, Beverly and Mildred Phelan both of Warnerville and longtime friend, Mary Ackerbauer.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held from 10Am to 12PM on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. A private funeral service will be held for the family with burial in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
