Howes Cave- Donald E. Morey, 87, of Shady Tree Lane, Howes Cave, New York died Monday, December 18, 2023 at his home with his family and his dog best friend, Jesse by his side.
Born on August 9, 1936 in Richmondville, NY, he was the son of Everett Morey and Hazel Crapser Morey. He was a graduate of Richmondville High School, Class of 1954 and was a lifelong resident of Schoharie County.
Following graduation, Donald enlisted in the US Army, serving from 1954-57.
Donald worked for General Electric in Schenectady after returning from the Army. He then worked as a Lieutenant for Schoharie County Sheriff's Department until his retirement.
Donald was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and his camp on the Sacandaga Lake. He was a member of the local conservation club. Donald also took great pride in his lawn.
On August 2, 1958, Donald was married to Madelon. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2022. His sons, Chris and Jeff "Duff" Morey also predeceased him.
Mr. Morey is survived by sons, Donald P. and Wendy Morey, Todd Morey and Jessica; daughter-in-law, Jackie Morey; grandchildren, Jason (Tracy) Morey, Brandon (Devon) Morey, Chad (Bethany) Morey, Ashley Perry, Arielle Morey, Leithe Morey; 9 great-grandchildren; and his faithful canine companion, Jesse.
A graveside service will be held Friday, April 26, 2024 at 10:00am at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery with Military Honors.
