Richmondville- Donald Edward Joslyn of Greenville, South Carolina passed away on Tuesday March 31, with his family by his side.

Born in Richmondville, New York in 1945, Don spent his formative years on the family dairy farm in rural upstate New York.

Early on Don excelled in school earning perfect scores on the New York State Regent exams later graduating first in his High School class. His love of Math and Science led him to Cornell University, where he studied Electrical Engineering. He attended graduate school at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), the nation's oldest engineering school.

Don enjoyed a rewarding career at American Electric Power taking on various engineering and senior management roles. He helped ensure the success of numerous critical engineering projects that included notable achievements such as the Zimmer Nuclear to Coal conversion project. He worked in various locations but primarily spent his working life in beloved Columbus, Ohio.

Don raised his family in Westerville, Ohio, a nearby leafy suburb of Columbus where all of his children attended school. Don was an adventurous traveler who traversed nearly all of the 50 United States. He took his family on many grand adventures often to national parks and the occasional power plant. Later in life he enthusiastically ventured overseas spending two summers exploring Scotland with his son Matthew, trips to Germany with his son Ryan, along with many domestic and international ski trips with his many close friends from the Columbus ski club. Throughout his life Don was an avid photographer amassing a collection of more than twenty thousand photos and slides.

Don is survived by his sons: Ryan, Marc, and Matthew along with his four siblings Lloyd, Vern, Karen, and Keith.

A graveside service will be held at 9 AM on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Richmondville Rural Cemetery with Rev. Jeffrey Smith from the Richmondville United Methodist Church officiating. Prior services were held on April 16, 2015 in Columbus, OH.

Local arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St. Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh
