Donald Clapper

Warnerville- Donald O. Clapper, 70, died Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY with his family at his side.

He was born May 27, 1949, in Charlotteville, NY and was the son of Osa and Mary (Stevens) Clapper.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving during Vietnam.

Donald was a busy man always tinkering with anything mechanical whether a lawn mower or cars.  His first and most important love was his family and time spent with them.  His other love was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.  He retired from Wal Mart after twelve years.

He is survived by his wife, Veronica (Murphy) Clapper, whom he married on May 5, 1975; his daughters: April Cole of Warnerville, Mary (Donald) Buck Jr. of East Worcester, and Cheryl (John) Ilowiecki of Central Bridge;  his sister, Joyce Howard of Mount Vision, NY, and his beloved 8 grandchildren.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
