Cobleskill- Donald M. Bond,93, of Parkway Drive, died Friday, September 2, 2022, in the comfort of his home with his loved ones at his side.

Born September 6, 1928, in Claremont, NH, he was the son of the late Alden W. and Gladys (Reynolds) Bond.

Following graduation, Don enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as a WW II veteran, receiving an honorable discharge in 1948.

He had a longtime career as a physical education teacher beginning at Baltimore Co. Public School for two years, then Stratford Central School for four years where he also coached soccer, basketball, and baseball.  His career path took him to Dolgeville School District where he taught and coached basketball and served as an assistant coach for football.  Don retired from the Cobleskill School District serving more than twenty years as a teacher, while coaching basketball, golf, cross country, and football.

Don was community minded and gave his fullest to the many organizations that he was a member of: American Legion Fred L. Stilson Post #57, Dolgeville F.A.M. Lodge #796 and Cobleskill F.A.M. Lodge #394; Cyprus Shrine AAONMS #5 of Albany, Schoharie, Adirondack and Schenectady Shrine Clubs, Hillbilly Clan #87, Legion of Honor and Shepard's Club of the Shrine which transports children to the Shriners Hospital in Springfield, MA,  NYS United Teachers, NYS Retired Teachers and Schoharie County Retired Teachers, National Education Assoc.,  Cobleskill Golf and Country Club, winning numerous tournaments including seniors and 2 member-guest and Al-Anon for over 45 years, hosting meetings on a regular basis right up until the day prior of passing.

A faithful and dedicated member of the Cobleskill United Methodist Church since 1964, Don served as an usher, member of the board of trustees, administrative board, finance committee, parish committee and Sunday School Teacher.

Along with his parents, Don was also predeceased by his sisters: Mary Jane and Elsene; his wife of 59 years, Esther (Adams) Bond and two daughters: Linda and Sharon.

Don is survived by his wife, Patricia and her 4 sons, 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; his daughter, Debra (Bruce) Wollaber; grandson, Allan (Allison) Wollaber; 3 granddaughters: Diane (Raj) Chudgar, Lori (Shawn) Roberts and Lynn (Lenny) Bacon; 12 great-grandchildren and sister, Nancy (Robert) French of Quechee, VT.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Cobleskill United Methodist Church, 107 Chapel St., Cobleskill where visitation will be held prior, from 9AM until 11:45 when a masonic service will be held with the church service immediately following.  Officiating will be Rev. Anna Blinn Cole.  Inurnment will follow with military honors provided by the Fred L. Stilson American Legion Post at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.

The service will be live streamed for those who wish to view it.
