Central Bridge- Dennis W. Slater, 59, of Grovenors Corners Road, died Friday, May 7, 2010, following a sudden heart attack.
Born December 3, 1950, he was the son of Jean (Bender) Slater and the late LeRoy Slater. Dennis was a graduate of the former Cobleskill Central School.
He was the proprietor of Slater Homes, LLC and Slater's Kitchen and Bath Design Center for the past twenty years. Previously he operated Slater Deer Processing and had been a dairy farmer.
Dennis enjoyed traveling and hunting in his spare time. He was a longtime member of the Schoharie County Conservation Club.
Dennis was predeceased by his first wife, Linda (Keyser) Slater, who died April 5, 2001.
Survivors include his children: Matthew (Dana) Slater of Warnerville, Kelly (Michael) Livingston of Sloansville, and Jason (Jennifer) Slater of Carlisle; his mother, Jean Slater of Cobleskill; longtime companion, Judy Lape of Central Bridge; three sisters: Kathy (David) Yorks of Cobleskill, Deborah (Kenny) Wrobleski of Florida, and Dawn (William, Jr.) Townsend of Lawyersville; two brothers: Mark (Lisa) Slater of Howes Cave, and Keith Slater of Cobleskill; two grandchildren: Megan and Olivia Slater of Warnerville; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Jason Thompson officiating. Friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home on Tues. from 5 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Grosvenors Corners Cemetery. The family would like to extend an invitation to friends to join them at the Grovenors Corner United Methodist Church for a gathering following the burial.
